Choose a fresh-air product by deciding whether the project needs outdoor-air intake, particle filtration, passive make-up air or a cabinet ventilation unit. Then check airflow, filter stages, pressure loss, wall or duct access, noise, power and maintenance. A filter can clean an air stream, but it does not by itself provide outdoor-air exchange.

Quick answer

Use VT501-F for a ductless filtered room retrofit, Filter Box when a ducted system needs staged filtration, and the thermostat valve when a passive inlet is acceptable. DPT-J is a cabinet-style path for projects requiring multiple filtration stages and stable fresh-air delivery.

Ductless room

VT501-F is a wall-mounted filtered fresh-air fan for rooms where central ductwork is not practical.

Ducted filtration

Filter Box combines primary, activated-carbon and HEPA stages in an inline duct housing.

Passive inlet

The thermostat valve uses no power and provides a passive outdoor-air inlet with manual adjustment.

Fresh-air and filtration questions

Use these answers to define the air path before selecting equipment.

Is a filter box the same as a fresh-air ventilator?

No. A filter box conditions air moving through a duct. The ventilation fan or air-handling system still determines whether outdoor air is supplied and at what rate.

When is a ductless wall unit useful?

A wall unit can be useful in a retrofit or room-by-room project where central ductwork is unavailable. Confirm wall construction, outdoor access, sound, filter service and room airflow.

Does a passive fresh-air valve need electricity?

The listed thermostat valve is a passive inlet and does not require a power supply. It does not provide mechanical airflow or heat recovery, so the overall ventilation path must be checked separately.

What should a filtration RFQ include?

Include outdoor-air rate, pollutant or odor concern, filter stages, target pressure drop, duct or wall dimensions, power, controls, replacement-filter plan, quantity and market documentation.
